What if I told you that at the end of one week you would be healthier, happier, more peaceful and productive as well as age better?

Pay attention closely to this Rise Up Well and that might just happen.

When it comes to health and wellness, my brother is the type of person who does not want an explanation. He just wants to know what to do and to keep it simple.

The second I try to explain the reasoning behind the information, I lose him.

How many of you fall into that category? You just don’t want to know the in dept scientific explanation of why detoxification daily is critical to your health and longevity, the detrimental effects of chemical cleaning agents in your home, the benefits of forest bathing, what lack of proper hydration will do to your ability to lose weight and keep your organs clean, the horrific effects of gluten on almost every aspect of your health and why not taking the time to nourish your spirituality will chip away at your joy, purpose and ability to connect with others…

Those are just a few topics that if I were to go into the reasons why with my brother he would hang up the phone.

I believe those are all fantastic topics but I will save those for another day.

I am proud of my brother though. He has made efforts to try to be healthier. Some people want to dive in head first and do it all yet others, like my brother, respond better to simple and basic - without a lot of know-how.

In honor of my brother and those wonderful people out there like him who want to be healthier and live more productive joy filled lives but do not have a lot of time to read or dive deep, this article is for you.

And for those who love the nitty-gritty of the who, what, when, where, why and how of things….don’t worry, this is me we are talking about and I love to write.

There will be plenty of more articles to satisfy that nature as well.

In this week’s Rise Up Well, I am setting forth a challenge for you.

This next coming week, I invite you each day to follow my SEVEN DAYS OF SIMPLE.

Print up this article and cut out the list. Pin it to your computer, refrigerator, dashboard or wherever you will see it daily.

Start with day one. Do the recommended behavior or tip. Even if it seems foreign to you (like a green juice) go with it...give it a try and explore.

I have been in this business of health and fitness for quite a while now and what I am suggesting has been proven effective.

I don’t know much about math but helping you to live a better life…well, I can do that.

The next day keep up the day one’s suggestion while adding the second day…and so on….simple and easy.

No explanation…What this adds up to for you, is a much healthier mind, body and spirit without you giving it much thought. Guaranteed!

If you implement these easy strategies for the next seven days….and then keep doing them as they become regular habits,  you will be well on your way to optimizing your health for years to come.

On a side note. Many of you know my challenges.

Every day I must manage chronic pain and illness.

I get lost sometimes thinking about what I have not yet achieved in my journey for healing and what I am doing incorrectly. But my doctors keep reminding me to look at what I have overcome.

Many on my team do not know how I am still cognitively functioning, have the energy that I do…and actually some do not  even know how I am still living and breathing.

They remind me that I am doing many things right. What I am sharing with you has worked for me so I know these SEVEN DAYS OF SIMPLE are powerful and effective.

Day 1: As soon as you wake up…HYDRATE.

Drink pure filtered room temperature (NOT tap) water. I suggest 2 tall glasses sipped, not gulped, first thing in the morning. This does not mean coffee, tea or any other beverage. Get use to clean beautiful nourishing water.

Day 2: Today include more vegetables in your diet.

We are going for 5-10 servings a day. Yes…you read right. If you are into cereal, sandwiches, and a high carb dinner…look at the way you can add more veggies to your diet. In today’s tip, a green juice DOES apply.

Many of you may not have juicers….I don’t. But so many health food stores and regular grocery chains carry green juices….one issue though. NO fruit juices. Too high in sugar. So get your greens…..Be bold. Go to the store and try something you have never eaten. Try a dandelion greens, collard greens, kale, zucchini, celery, carrots, parsnips, and romaine….etc.

One last word ORGANIC. Refer to this list what is essential you buy organic.

Day 3: Start to rid your household of chemical based cleaning agents.

I am very serious when I say that they can cause extreme damage to you and your loved ones. I remember the first time I went to visit  my friend’s house. He had Glade plug in air fresheners, used bleach to clean and Tide for washing his clothes.

I nearly passed out and told him I would not come back. I educated him on the harmful toxins and he quickly changed his ways.

For those who think eco-friendly cleaners are more expensive…they are not.

Move this practice into your skin care practice as well. Read labels. My friend also had to stop using his potent aftershave because he knew I would not go near him.

Chemicals go directly into your system through your skin. Stay with that thought a moment…absorb that.

Day 4: Before you get out of bed in the morning, say a blessing or prayer over someone who you know could use it.

Don’t begin your day with you and what you have to do. Begin your day with someone else in mind. Then, after blessing someone else, think of 3 things that you are grateful for.

Day 5: Pick one of your meals (or all of them if you can) and immediately after eating go for a 15-30 minute walk….and cell phones are not allowed.

Well, if you like podcasts and enjoy listening to something inspiring and educational (not checking football scores or the news) then that is okay.

Day 6: Get still in Nature.

This is HUGE for your well-being and longevity. In today’s society so many of us go from house, to car, to office (or other indoor spaces), back in our car and home to our house.

Try to spend at least 30 minutes each day (or almost every day)  enjoying God’s magnificent world.

I included “getting still” on purpose. I guarantee you do not get enough “still” time I your life. Still time does not mean vegging out in front of the TV, collapsing out of exhaustion or surfing the internet.

I have combined nature and stillness because, when experienced together, the effect can be transformational.

You could even just go outside at night and star gaze. Be in nature….and be still. You are part of something so much more than what your life presents.

Day 7: Get to bed earlier. SLEEP is critical.

Seriously, how many of you are getting 7-9 hours of quality, uninterrupted restorative sleep?

This does not count sleeping on the sofa or naps.  I mean sleep…7-9 hours…in your bed….and without interruption from your partner if you know what I mean.

One of my favorite quotes was said by Viktor Frankl from his classic book A Man’s Search for Meaning.

He states, “Between Stimulus and Response is A Space. In that Space is our power to choose our response. In our response lies our growth and our freedom.”

You  may not have control over what is going on in this world today but you do have control over how you  to think and respond.

You can be a reactor and be controlled by that STIMULUS…the media, your work, your diagnosis, your pain, your relationship…whatever steals your power…OR you can choose to take control of the  SPACE that Viktor Frankl writes about.

You have more power over your life and well-being than you realize.

The decisions you make everyday will either manifest health or disease. The choice is yours.

Start with My SEVEN DAYS OF SIMPLE and in those simple steps you will Rise Up each day to new growth and freedom.

With Love and Hope,
