“I don’t believe people are looking for the meaning of life as much as they are looking for the experience of being alive."

– Joseph Campell

What makes you feel alive?  I mean truly alive, connected to the world around you…mind, body and spirit?

So alive that you feel the sensation of standing on the top of a mountain looking out over the vast horizon thinking to yourself...right here right now I am not experiencing joy, I AM joy.

I call this “joy peaking.”

It is these moments in time in which you understand why life is worth living.

Close your eyes and reflect back to the times in your life in which you had those mountain top experiences. You became ONE with the joy you were experiencing.

I am sure that my birth was the peak of my parent’s joy, right mom and dad? It’s okay if my siblings were second…..just kidding, well kind-of.

Part of my job in life is to study and work with the human condition...the highs and lows, the breakthroughs and breakdowns, the disconnect and unity, the dark and the light.

My observation is that we are having less and less moments of joy peaking and more moments submerged in overwhelm, discouragement and dissatisfaction.

I see people rushing through life, comparing themselves to others, using substances and behaviors to escape discomfort, lacking in self-care and looking outward for “things” to validate their experience on this planet.

We are living in a “peace stealing” environment which leads to a deficit of joy.

To be a healthy and whole human, you need joy every day. Not a joyful experience every couple of days…I mean EVERYDAY.

Life is more satisfying, significant, vibrant, meaningful...I could go on...when you consciously seek and embody joy. Yes, consciously.

From the moment we wake up and put our feet on the floor, life comes along with challenges. You must decide that you will have joy, even in the midst of chaos and obstacles.

Right now, take out a piece of paper.

Please really do this.

Now list everything in life that brings you joy. Go for it! Don’t hold back.

Now, look at your list AND your calendar. What could you start doing this week to live your life with more joy?

Write it in your schedule. Make an appointment with yourself, and put your list somewhere you will see it.

Your life could be transformed by this one simple act. Tomorrow could be the beginning of a whole new world for you.

A JOY FILLED world.

With Love and Hope,
